iF3 VideoQuest 2015: it’s a wrap!

For the third year since its inception, iF3 VideoQuest hosted three contests: Owl’s Head, Street and Japan POV. Here’s what was new this year:

• Cash prizes have doubled from $500 to $1,000

• The video most viewed on EpicTV across all categories won an extra $1,000 CAD

VideoQuest is a chance for amateur filmers and skiers to showcase their talent to tens of thousands of viewers. Each category winner’s video will be broadcast at the festival next September. We received many great submissions and it was sometimes hard to come to a decision between the entries. We would like to thank all participants for their hard work and we’re looking forward to watch next year’s edits! Don’t miss a single winning video:

 

Owl’s Head

 

3rd place: 2 Giro helmets and 2 pairs of Giro goggles

Maxime Trudel

Samuel Beauchesne and Vincent Prévost can jump just about anything anywhere, from mountainous massifs to tennis court fences, placing them onto the 3rd step of the podium. Filmed and edited by Maxime Trudel.

 

2nd place: 1 GoPro Hero 4 Silver + 1 Banshee Bungee (10 foot)

Gabriel Carrier

In this edit, filmer/editor Gabriel Carrier and skier David Pauzé puzzle over time while skiing their way to the 2nd place.

1st place: CA$ 1,000 cash + 1 Banshee Bungee (20 foot) + video presented at iF3 Montreal 2015

Skurfs

Impressive filming and storytelling skills are what led the Skurfs made of filmer/editor Anthony Rodier and skier William Pichette to score a 1st place at Owl’s head.

 

Street

 

 6th place:

Les Khroniques du Québec

The Khroniques du Québec crew take it to the streets, orchestrating a solid combination of smooth bangers and undeniable style. With a creative set-up to finish the edit, this crew earned itself the 6th position at iF3 VideoQuest Street 2015.

5th place:

Mello Yello

Josh Wong and the Mello Yello crew present a fun-packed video with very technical rail tricks and bails that will make you cringe. You’ll love the vibe portrayed in Mello Yello Street Life earning the crew fifth place.

4th place:

Chris Bolduc

Chris Bolduc, aka C-BO, was on a mission this season to put together his biggest urban bangers. Shredding gnarly spots in Quebec, he did not hold back on risky business to present to you a solo project that will leave you with a dropped jaw. Just wait for that ender landing him in 4th place of iF3 VideoQuest Street 2015.

3rd place: $500 in Eira products

Union Productions

Filmer/director Olivier Désy follows skier Dom Petit on his escapade to the streets skiing sketchy spots, getting in trouble with the authorities and taking big hits. This creative piece, with a surprise dumpster trick at the end earned Union Productions third place in the iF3 VideoQuest Street 2015 with their video “Escapade”.

2nd place: 1 GoPro Hero 4 Silver + 1 Banshee Bungee (10 foot) + 1 Giro helmet and 1 pair of Giro goggles

Unaffiliated Productions

With a combination of spectacular cinematography and high-level, creative skiing, Unaffiliated Productions score second place with an edit showing why you do not need a mountain to put together a solid ski video. Watch, as the crew present “Mountainless”.

Alex Miglierina

Hitting a big variety of urban spots in and around Montreal, Alex Miglierina’s crew of local skiers met-up with French counterparts to put together CALM. This mind-blowing edit filled with crazy set-ups and top-notch skiing earned the team a roaring first place finish in the contest.

Scott Ruzzene

 

Skiers and snowboarders ride all together in this recap of Scott Ruzzene’s snow trip.

5th place:

Fred Bazinet

Fred Bazinet proves that Japan truly is the ultimate realm of powder. Brace yourselves…

4th place:

James Winfield

One man, one camera. Watch James Winfield charge through fluffy Japanese terrain with spectacular scenery. Warning: this video will make your jaw drop and have you craving winter’s return.

3rd place: CA$250

Simon Pouliot

Checking-off your bucket list is not always an easy thing. Simon Pouliot and his group of friends made it happen and came-out with an awesome edit earning them 3rd place. Watch-out for the big mushroom hit to pow!

2nd  place: CA$750

Gabriella Edebo

Ever wondered what is was to experience a ski trip to Japan with a group of friends? Look no further. This fun-packed edit shows you the highlights of deep snow, cool cliffs and urban life, getting an overall score that slipped Gabriella and her friends into 2nd place.

1st place: CA$1,000 cash

Daisuke Kurata

 

Director Daisuke Kurata took his crew on adventures around Japan, chasing deep powder, shredding parks and most importantly, having an amazing time. This entertaining and dynamic edit which triumphantly claimed first place will make you wish you did the same!
